Ok, I have finally figured out how to buy some bitcoin so that I can pay for my order with it. It has taken a while, but I cant resist the discount. I ended up going with Binance. The process is pretty simple so I shouldn't have any problems buying my bitcoin from now on.
My only problem is that they want to charge me ~$4 to transfer my Bitcoin out of my account if I want to use it to pay for my order... This seems high!
Is there a cheaper way to transfer bitcoin across from Binance or do I need to create a cryptocurrency wallet?
I use Binance, but yeah you're right, the transfer fees really do start to add up. I'm looking at ordering a hardware wallet which I'll do 1 transfer to from Binance, but all my transfer fees for the orders going forward should be a little cheaper coming directly from my wallet. I'll let you know how it goes if I get around to it!
I use FTX, withdrawals are free if you have a certain amount of their tokens. Makes for a good investment if you're prone to do a lot of transfers over time. Their platform and service is also solid, haven't been able to fault it yet.
Having a wallet won't be cheaper, not only will you have to get your Bitcoin over there in the first place, which will require a gas fee, but transferring it from the wallet directly also can add up over time. If you're really looking for cheap gas then I would recommend looking into the lightning network, then you'll be paying close to zero to move your coins around and to make an online order.
